Create a new Pricing Strategy

A new Pricing Strategy can be created to calculate subscriptions' effective price based on a specific formula.

Before you begin

You must be a licensed Work 365 user with the Work 365 Admin security role assigned to you to create new Pricing Strategies. For more information, see Security Roles and Permissions.

Create and configure a new Pricing Strategy

  1. In Work 365, use the area selector at the bottom of the left-hand navigation to change to the Product Management area, then select Pricing Strategies.
  2. In the command ribbon at the top, select New.
  3. Fill in the information on the General tab of the new Pricing Strategy. Required fields are denoted with an asterisk*.
Name* Enter the display name for this pricing strategy. Ensure this name is recognizable as this will be the name shown on Accounts and Subscriptions when choosing the pricing strategy
Description Optionally enter a description for this pricing strategy to provide additional context for users around how and when to use it.
Percentage* Enter the percentage that will be used for this pricing strategies formula calculations. The percentage should be entered as a whole number percent rather than a decimal. I.e., enter 10 to represent 10% rather than 0.10. Decimals are allowed as part of the percentage. For instance, 17.64 would represent a 17.64% percentage being applied in the formula.
Strategy Select the strategy that will be used for the formula. The options are Markup and Discount. For more information on markup vs. margin, see Markup vs. margin.
Based On Select which product price field the pricing strategy will be based on. The options are Cost Price and Retail Price.
  4. In the command ribbon at the top, select 💾Save to create the new pricing strategy.
By default, pricing strategies are created in a draft state. When you are ready to make the strategy available to users in the organization, select Mark As Active in the command ribbon at the top of the record.

Modifying a Pricing Strategy:

Modifying a pricing strategy requires you to put it in a draft stage. Changing settings to an exiting pricing strategy will update all Subscriptions associated with that Pricing Strategy.

🚧

Its important to note that confirming changes must be done with the intention to update all subscription pricing.
